In the aftermath of an election, a man's skull was crushed. His murderer was acquitted. After another election, the poll book was stolen and destroyed; after a third, a young Tory stood accused of attempted murder.
Join Charles Anderson, semi-retired judge and author, as he introduces us to his book, Bluebloods and Rednecks, and tries to explain the mayhem. It seems like gentle country now, but during the 1820s and '30s, the eastern Ontario counties were notorious for political violence.
Copies of the book will be for sale at the presentation.
