Four day course - November 25, 26 & December 9 & 10.
The Fire Service Instructor 1 (NFPA 1041 Level 1) course will introduce the student to the techniques required to deliver an instructional session from an existing lesson plan. Students will be exposed to instructional media, evaluation instruments, and methods of establishing a proper learning environment. Students will also explore record-keeping techniques. A strong emphasis will be made on student presentations and skills which include one 15-minute presentation and one 20-minute presentation. Student evaluation methods include practical skill checklists, class participation, and a written exam.
Prior to the course, students are required to complete pre-course work. This includes reading all applicable chapters in the textbook and completing review questions at the end of each chapter.
