Introduction to Firefighter Survival & Rapid Intervention Team Operations

Fee: $175.00 per student-learner
Course Description:
This program combines theory and hands-on applications to provide the student-learner with the necessary skills to perform basic survival techniques and a working knowledge of Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) operations as it applies to a modern fire scene. This (2) day course will familiarize student-learners with concepts and tools to develop or enhance their scope and understanding in the principles of Firefighter Survival and Rapid Intervention Team operations as it pertains to building construction, fire behavior and radio communications. Student-learners will receive theory discussions and simulated evolution to demonstrate techniques in a controlled environment.
Developed in accordance with NFPA 1500: Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety, Health, and Well Program, NFPA 1407: Standard for Training Fire Service Rapid Intervention Crews, and the Ontario Fire Service Section 21 Health & Safety. Student-Learners will require full structural PPE and breathing apparatus. Lunch will be included in course fee. Student-Learner’s will receive a certificate of participation.
