Course Description:
The incident management system is a constantly evolving tool that ensures effective
communication and control for the Incident Commander (IC) of any fire scene. A strategic allhazards
approach that defines a standard unified command-and-control structure to prevent
confusion and free-lacing. An ideal management for firefighters of all levels of experience, junior
officers and chiefs to develop and follow an incident action plan (IAP). Student-learners will
participate in both classroom theory lectures, group discussions and practical fire ground
exercises over (3) days. Student-learners will require full structural PPE for fire ground practical
evolutions.
Instructor: Bruce Lewis
Recently retired as a Captain from the Halton Hills Fire Department, Bruce has more than 38
years in the Fire Service. Prior to his full-time service, Bruce began as a volunteer reaching the
rank of District Chief. His portfolio spans from suppression, pre-planning and prevention to his
22 years as an Instructor with the Ontario Fire College delivering training across the province.
Bruce has a thorough understanding of the needs and limitations of Fire Departments off all
sizes and continues his delivery of quality training.
